Two hundred years ago, Old Town Farm in Cavendish, Vermont was one of many community farms found throughout New England. Today, we are continuing the tradition of local farming using the advances in viticulture made possible by new north country varietals created specifically for Vermont's climate. 

By growing grapes that are unique and appropriate to the region, and not "forcing" V. vinifera vines to grow where they can't, the north country varietals are capable of outstanding results with traditional old world characteristics. Town Farm Vineyards planted two test plots in the spring of 2010, featuring six different vines. 

We will conduct small scale testing during the next 2 - 3 years prior to expanding to a maximum of five acres planted. Our goal is to create a small production - 5000 gallon - winery of the highest quality reflecting the best of Vermont farming combined with leading edge oenology.
